Illegal Immigrant, Convicted Sexual Predator Sentenced to Federal Prison After Reentering U.S.

A convicted sexual predator who was previously deported to Mexico has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison after authorities discovered he had illegally returned to the United States.

Miguel Solis-Morales, 43, of Mexico, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Jordan E. Pratt for illegally reentering the United States after being deported by immigration authorities in 2015, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.

Federal prosecutors said Solis-Morales will be deported to Mexico after completing his prison sentence.

According to federal and state court records, Solis-Morales was convicted of sexual battery in Jacksonville on Sept. 10, 2009. He was designated a sexual predator under Florida law and sentenced to five years in state prison.

After completing that sentence, immigration authorities removed Solis-Morales from the United States in May 2015 and returned him to Mexico.

Authorities said Solis-Morales was found back in Jacksonville on Feb. 16, 2026, when the Florida Highway Patrol arrested him for an alleged violation of state probation.

A review of immigration records determined that Solis-Morales had not applied for or received permission from U.S. immigration authorities to legally reenter the country following his deportation, prosecutors said.

The case was investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol and Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney D. Rodney Brown prosecuted the case.
