Woman Critically Injured in Orange County Hit-and-Run Crash, FHP Seeks Public’s Help

A 25-year-old Winter Springs woman was critically injured Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene on State Road 50 in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at approximately 6:17 a.m. on Aug. 14 in the eastbound lanes of State Road 50, also known as Colonial Drive, just east of St. Nicholas Avenue in Christmas.

According to FHP, the woman was standing outside her parked 2021 Nissan Kicks on the right shoulder of the roadway when an unknown eastbound vehicle struck her.

The driver did not stop after the collision and fled the scene, troopers said. The woman was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

A witness told investigators the vehicle involved may have been an SUV, although its color and other identifying information were not immediately known.
