Dead Man's Wife, 2 Sons Arrested in Connection with His Murder

In the big bend region of Florida’s panhandle, the wife and two sons of the late David Rainey were arrested in connection with his murder, which occurred just over four years ago.

David Rainey was reported missing n July 25, 2021 by his wife, Cindy Rainey, during a family vacation in the town of Suwannee. Later that evening, investigators with the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office found David Rainey deceased in a canal behind their rented residence. According to investigators, Rainey had multiple stab wounds to the chest and had been placed in the water after his death, which was ruled a homicide.

On October 25, 2023, three of David Rainey’s family members were arrested in connection to his murder.

Investigators with the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office traveled to Bunnell, Florida, and arrested Cindy Rainey and Bailey Rainey with the assistance of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators then traveled to Orlando, Florida, and arrested Jack Rainey with the assistance of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Cindy Rainey, Bailey Rainey, and Jack Rainey were all charged with Tampering with Evidence.
