Tampa Man Charged for Fentanyl Overdose Death of Another Individual

As the opioid crisis continues to kill thousands of Americans, a Tampa man was indicted for the distribution of fentanyl resulting in the death of an individual.

According to Roger B. Handberg from the Middle Florida District of the United States Attorney’s Office, Telvin O. Wright (26, Tampa) was charged for distributing a mixture of cocaine and fentanyl on February 9, 2022, which resulted in an overdose death, and with possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl. If convicted, Wright could faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 20 years if he is convicted, or even up to life, in federal prison for the distribution of fentanyl resulting in death. In addition to those years, Wright could serve up to 20 years’ imprisonment for the possession with intent to distribute offense.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. It will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Maria Guzman.
