Tampa Man Charged With Distributing Methamphetamine
Tampa, Florida – United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announced the unsealing of a criminal complaint against Oscar Adalid Ortez Lopez (56, Tampa) for distributing over 50 grams of methamphetamine. If convicted, he faces a minimum of 10 years to life in federal prison.
Prosecutors reported that the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration made controlled purchases of meth from Ortez Lopez, totaling over half a kilogram. He was arrested during a search warrant execution at a residence used for storing meth, where law enforcement found additional quantities.
A complaint is a formal charge, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The case was investigated by the DEA and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David P. Sullivan.
